TEEN & FAMILY CAMP
Break Free Seminars Youth Camp provides young people, 9-15 years of age, with the opportunity to open up and share exactly what’s going on in their world in a safe environment. The youth break through walls of self-doubt and participate in experiential processes/games that will help them to discover who they truly are and they will find out what they really want at this stage in their life. We have them take a look at the self-defeating things they do as young people that complicate their lives and keep them from getting the most out of their young years. Imagine your son or daughter realizing the value of one simple process…keeping their agreements? Or, how would your home life be different if there was more open honest communication, no more one-word answers, and/or a plan of action to acknowledge the best in one another?
At this age in a youth’s life, change is happening quickly. They are being influenced by many things and many people around them and they are making choices every day that will affect the rest of their lives. Youth Camp helps to teach them that in order to have more of what they want in their life, they need to make good choices NOW. It’s because of this that many parents send their youth year after year to the camp so these valuable lessons are reinforced.
Youth Camp is similar to the adult Break Free program in terms of structure, the variety of learning modalities, teachings and processes. By the end of the week the walls between the children and their parents come tumbling down. Families become closer and are able to express their feelings in a more loving way. Communication is established that continues long after this program is over – hopefully a lifetime.
Camp begins Monday afternoon when the youth arrive at the camp and are delivered into the care of their coaches. All of the coaches are graduates of the adult Break Free program and are wanting to give back and make a difference in the lives of the children. Once they are with their coaches, the parents will leave for the next 3 days. Thursday afternoon the parents will return to the camp and rejoin their children for their graduation and then “Family Camp”, the family portion of the program. This part will take the family through various processes together allowing for a deeper connection and understanding of each other as individuals as well as an increased understanding of the family unit as a whole. They will also participate as a family in fun activities helping to bring out the “child” in the parents while encouraging “play” with their children. The program concludes on FRIDAY afternoon.
At least one parent attending the family portion of Youth Camp must be a graduate of the Break Free Seminars 5-day program, “Freedom”. This is to ensure the children attending will have the support they need to continue using the tools they learned at the camp with their family at home. It also encourages the parents to use their own “tools” from their Break Free experience, knowing their accountability will be up for “review” during the family processes.
The Camp also includes swim time, music, skits, life-long friendships and fun, along with the life lesson processes.
* All of the coaches are graduates of the adult Break Free program and are wanting to give back and make a difference in the lives of the children. As in the adult program, there role is to help facilitate large group and small group processes and to assist in making sure the children are safe at all times.
